Walking in Glencoe
Glencoe is a wonderful area for walking regardless of whether you enjoy
low level walking or you like to climb the highest mountains. There is
a wealth of opportunities for all abilities. Below we have given you
just a flavour of some of our favourite local walks but this is just
scratching the surface of the opportunities out there.
Low Level Walking
From the doorstep of your cottage, you can walk further up Gleann Leac na Muidhe, following a bubbling mountain burn!.
Other Walks
- There are three wonderful walks around the very pretty Glencoe Lochan.
- Signal Rock and An Tor, where the signal was given for the start of the massacre, are at the foot of our glen.
- Inchree Waterfalls, where you may see people gorge walking and if you are lucky, a red squirrel or two.
- The James of the Glen Trail, through woodland and into areas of moorland.
- Gleann a’ chulish, where you slowly climb uphill, to be rewarded with a stunning view over Loch Leven to the hills of Ardgour and a downhill walk back!
Hill and Mountain Walking
The opportunities for Hill Walking and climbing in the Glencoe area are
very well know to mountain enthusiasts throughout the world. The
majestic mountains that form the towering sides to the main glen are
‘just a stone’s throw away’. From our cottages, the view of the Aonach
Eagach is widely considered to be finest and most spectacular of
anywhere in the glen.
With 43 Munros and a similar number of Corbetts just a short drive away
there is more than enough to satisfy even the most energetic of
hillwalkers. From the door step of the cottage you are able to walk out
and climb the local hills including Sgor na h-Ulaidh, the hidden Munro
of Glencoe.
