Around the cottages
The holiday cottages are situated a mile up a farm track, off the main
A82 trunk road, in a truly wonderful location know as Gleann Leac na
Muidhe. The views are stunning and the peace and tranquillity is
amazing. You will not hear traffic noise and the night skies are free
of urban light pollution. You will hear the birds singing!
Gleann Leac na Muidhe is mainly used for sheep farming and occasionally
for grazing Highland Cattle. The wildlife is varied, ranging from
Golden Eagles, Buzzards and Heron to Red Deer, Wild Cat, Foxes and Pine
Martens. On the ground there is a marvellous variety of alpine flower
species such as common violets, wild hyacinth and wood anemone, to name
just a few.
From the front door of your cottage, you are able to walk further up
the track. This provides an easy walk that takes you up the glen
alongside a mountain burn. Here you will feel that you truly are in the
hills, even if you are a low level or limited walker. The experienced
hill walker can continue up the glen and climb the surrounding hills
including Sgor na h-Ulaidh, the hidden Munro of Glencoe.
